Just months ahead of the Goa Assembly elections due in February 2022, President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed a new full-time governor for Goa on Tuesday. PS Sreedharan Pillai will take the charge of the post and will be 19th Governor of Goa. Pillai was serving as governor of Mizoram before he was shifted to the coastal state.
With Pillai’s appointment, Goa has got a full-time governor almost after a year. Since the transfer of the last full-time Governor Satya Pal Malik to Meghalaya in 2020, Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was given an additional charge of Goa.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated Pillai on his appointment. “Congratulating Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai Ji, on his appointment as Governor of Goa. Looking forward to welcome him in our beautiful state.” he tweeted.
