Goa experiences rain in many parts including Panaji

It rained for about an hour in Panaji city and some parts of the state.

Goenkars, bothered by the scorching heat, were somewhat overwhelmed by the unseasonal rains around 9 pm on Tuesday. It rained for about an hour in Panaji city and some parts of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department had forecast rains on Tuesday and Thursday. Cloudy weather was observed on Tuesday evening before it started raining and lightning around 9 pm.

Due to the unseasonal rain, the general public will likely be affected. Farmers are now likely to face financial difficulties. The rains have hit cashew and mango growers hard. The rains are expected to affect many more crops. Other victims were unsuspecting two-wheeler riders who were blown away by the rain. The power, which went out before the rains started, did not reach many parts of Sanguem till late at night. Quepem and Canacona were also lashed by torrential rains.

The state recorded a maximum of 34.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Rainfall in various places

At around 6:30 PM, there were clouds in the direction of Satari, Sange and Dharbandora talukas. Around 8 PM, rains started puring in Old Goa, Sanquelim, Keri Sattari, Panaji, Marcel, Banastarim, Sakorda, Bambolim, Daboli, Talgaon. It also rained in other parts of the country.

In the Sanguem area, heavy rains along with strong winds lashed the area around 7 pm. The rain forecast of the observatory came true and it rained heavily for half an hour in all parts of Sanguem.

The meteorological department's forecast: The meteorological department had forewarned thundershowers in the state on April 4 and 5. The winds were blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph.
