Panaji: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Saturday said that they will move 15 calling attention motions in the upcoming budget session of the State Legislative Assembly on important issues pertaining to the State. He also said that they will demand short duration discussion on three issues - Mhadei, Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)/National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) reservation in the Assembly. Sardesai also informed that three GFP MLAs and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte have moved amendments to the Governor’s address. Addressing media persons at GFP Headquarters in Panaji, Sardesai said, “We will move 15 calling attention motions as we have observed that these important burning issues have not come up as Starred Questions. We will coordinate with the Congress, MGP, Independent MLAs and also the lone NCP MLA to ensure that issues that are burning are not neglected in Goa.We will put all these calling attentions at one time. Let the speaker then allot it on specific dates.”
The issues include threats to PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, tiger deaths in the state, death of Merces panch member Prakash Naik, missing files pertaining to community farming scheme from Agriculture Department, Atal Setu, appointment of State Finance Commission, low rank of Goa among states and union territories of the country in ease of doing business, among others. Speaking further, he said, “Under rule 64, we can ask for a short duration discussion. We intend to ask for short duration discussion of two-and-a-half hours on three issues - Mhadei, CAA/NRC and ST reservation for Assembly.” Sardesai also informed that a Congratulatory Motion will be moved congratulating Cecille Rodrigues and her team for receiving recognition and appreciation from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for their attempts to reduce road accidents by painting speed breakers and developing their unique road-stamp 'Rosto' to caution drivers of blind spots.
