Many a time, we come across animals who are in need of help – either they need immediate medical care or need to be rescued. Several times, pets go missing and there is no way for the owner to find them.
During such desperate moments, we often don’t know what needs to be done. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Goa has started a 24x7 call centre, which is a pilot project for emergencies.
If anyone comes across an injured, lost or abandoned pet, cattle and other livestock, they can immediately dial (8882254254 extension (44) and report it. The helpline team will then look into the matter.
In the initial stages, it will only be functional between 9 am to 5 pm, but gradually will be a full-fledge assisting service. This call centre is an initiative of the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), a scheme of the Central Government of India.
In case you come across any such incidents or situation, don’t forget to contact the helpline services.
