Electricity bill waiver scam hearing adjourned

Public Prosecutor sick, hearing now on July 12 to present written argument

GT Desk

The hearing in the Electricity Bill Waiver Scam has been adjourned till July 12, 2022 after prosecutors failed to present their case against Mauvin Godinho, the main suspect in the 2002 case.

The case came up for hearing before the South Goa Additional Sessions Judge, Vincent de Silva, on Saturday.

At the hearing, his co-public prosecutor told the court that he could not defend himself because the Public Prosecutor was ill, and so the judge adjourned the hearing.

Godinho was accused of retrospectively giving concessions to two industries in Cuncolim when he was the Power Minister, even though the state government had stopped the power bill rebate scheme.
