Ports Minister and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Monday said he did not join BJP but had joined Manohar Parrikar and is determined to take forward the legacy of the former late chief minister.
"I was a congressman. I did not join BJP, I had joined Manohar Parrikar. We are determined to carry on the legacy of the late Manohar Parrikar who fought for this land till his last breath with the sole aim of taking Goa forward forever. I followed his footsteps and started my political journey as an activist in 2005," the ports minister said after inaugurating a Ganesh immersion pool at Candolim.
He also said that BJP won the 2012 assembly polls because Christians had supported the party. "BJP won on majority seats in 2012 because even Christians had voted for the party if that happens again this time too we have 21 seats," Lobo said.
Reacting to Siolim MLA and former PWD minister Vinod Paliencar remarks that there was "Pablo Escobar in the cabinet, who is controlling drug activities Siolim", Lobo said he will definitely pay a personal visit to Paliencar instead of making baseless allegations against him through press conferences.
He further said If paliencar has done good work, he will get re-elected, "I am ready to withdraw my wife's candidature if Paliencar promises to get reelected from Siolim," he said.
