Did you know that if you just dance, you have a good chance to make it to the Guinness World Records? Yes, here is Sevarat Healthcare and Nursing's latest initiative for senior citizens, which is all set for a Guinness record.
About the event and record
On the occasion of World Senior Citizens Day, August 21, 2022, Panjim-based Sevarat Healthcare, the organization dedicated to senior care services, plans on setting a Guinness World Record with senior citizens. The organisation wants to set a record for the 'largest gathering of senior citizens performing a choreographed dance'.
The event will be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Dona Paula.
Behind the idea
Founder of Sevarat, Rohini Gonsalves, said, “It’s certainly going to be a momentous occasion for every senior, who will go home blissful after being on a world record and take home the Guinness World Record Medallion."
The health care and nursing services over last three months, have successfully implemented Wah Zindagi – a state-wide initiative to conduct day-long programs with games and entertainment for the elderly. And, this dance event is another initiative.
With this event, Sevarat aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by senior citizens and the importance of changing the mindset of the community towards elders and their care.
The initiative also aims to boost the health and happiness of the elderly, and hence, is not only about setting a world record.
Highlights of the event
It will be a potential entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for the single largest congregation of seniors ever in any part of the world, and a record for the largest choreographed dance performance.
It will help create, foster and grow a community of senior citizens.
The event also aims to have Goan folk dances which will represent Goa's rich culture.
It will represent in word, action and spirit our slogan of every senior having ‘the time of your life’.
