After the humbling defeat in the Assembly Elections 2022, Congress has called for a review meeting on Monday, April 11. On this occasion, senior party leader P. Chidambaram and Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao are coming to Goa. The appointment of the new Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar, Working President Yuri Alemao, North Goa District President Viren Shirodkar and South Goa District President Savio D'Souza will be inaugurated at the occasion.

Senior Congress leader Rajani Patil had held discussions with the candidates present to review the defeat in the Assembly elections. Her report reached the central office-bearers. After this, the party announced other important elections including the state president. A detailed discussion is expected on Monday and the meeting will give detailed information to the party workers about the decision taken by the central leaders regarding the post of Leader of the Opposition. After this, the newly appointed office bearers will be posted in a hotel in Santa Inez.

Congress office-bearers including South Goa MP Francis Sardin, former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Leader of the Opposition Michael Lobo will be present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that there will be discussions in the meeting on rumours about Digambar Kamat leaving Congress to join BJP. Since Congress overlooked Kamat and appointed Michael Lobo as the Leader of the Opposition, rumours have strewed about his displeasure with the party.

Congress had little to cheer after the Assembly Election 2022 results as they secured only 11 seats out of 40 seats- a letdown from the 2017 elections when they won 17 seats.
