MARGAO: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has appealed to the people of Goa to take benefit of solar power scheme as the same will be withdrawn by next two years. Adding to that the government is keen on commencing the gas pipeline connection to every household in Goa. Speaking on the sideline of seminar organised by Institution of Valuers at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao he also said that meeting held at Dehli had discussed the issue of gas pipeline and coal-based plants. "Three years before I had declared the solar power scheme and now two years have already passed. I still appeal to the people to take benefit of the scheme by availing the solar power. The government is giving a 50 percent subsidy", he added. He informed that the first subsidy will be given by the first week of next month or before the ZP election code of conduct. Lots of people are going to get the benefit of the subsidy. "Instead of buying the vehicle people should put up the solar power in their houses. Goa is the first state to give a 50 per cent subsidy on solar power. The scheme will be withdrawn by the next two years and hence people should take the benefit of it at earliest", he appealed. When asked about the meeting held at Delhi he said, "We had a discussion with regard to the gas pipeline connection to every household. We have also discussed the issue pertaining to coal-based plants, besides on non-polluting industries. If anyone interested in setting up the non-polluting industry in Goa, the government will support it", he added. Nilesh further said that at the meeting, it is also informed that 50 per cent of vehicles running on petrol will be reduced in the country. Reacting to the issue with regard to power in Goa he said, "The power department is trying its best to provide a 24x7 power supply but at the same time, people also need to support it. People need to do sacrifices with regard to infrastructure facilities in Goa. Without sacrifice, it is not possible to provide a 24x7 power supply", he stated.
