26 opted for carrying out COVID-19 tests and all have tested negative: Goa Health secy

Addressing media persons in Panaji, Mohanan said that of the 15 flights that were scheduled to come to Goa, two got cancelled on Sunday and ten others got cancelled on Monday.

PANAJI: Secretary for Health Nila Mohanan on Monday said that of the 63 passengers who travelled to Goa by two flights, 26 opted for carrying out COVID-19 tests and all have tested negative.

Addressing media persons in Panaji, Mohanan said that of the 15 flights that were scheduled to come to Goa, two got cancelled on Sunday and ten others got cancelled on Monday.

"Of the three flights scheduled, till now we have had two arrivals of flights. The first flight which arrived from Bangalore around noon had 30 passengers, of which 15 opted for carrying out the COVID-19 test while 15 opted for home quarantine. The second flight that came from Delhi at around 2.30 pm had 33 passengers of which 25 (including three infants) opted for home quarantine while remaining 11 opted for conducting COVID-19 test," said Mohanan informing that tests of all 26 passengers is negative.

She informed that nine passengers arrived in the State by Rajdhani which was passing by transit. Of these nine passengers, six have opted for home quarantine while three pasenegers have given their swabs for testing.

Speaking further, Mohanan said that the State Government had not implemented the new protocol for passengers travelling by road on Monday.

"We have not implemented the new protocol for passengers travelling by road because we are developing a new system to systematise that. So we have followed the old protocol. The new protocol would be applicable from Tuesday onwards," she informed. 

Responding to a question, she said, "Only those hotels will function which will work as quarantine centres. Please avoid coming to Goa if you do not have your residence in Goa because hotels and guest houses are not permitted to function as per the MHA guidelines."
