Over 11% turnout till 9 am, Priol tops with 14.26%

Priol constituency has recorded the highest turnout of 14.26 per cent so far.

Around 11.04 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the polling for 40 Assembly constituencies of Goa on Monday till 9 am, according to officials.

Priol constituency has recorded the highest turnout of 14.26 per cent, so far, among the seats where polling was held on Monday till 9 am.

While Panaji polled has recorded 10.35 per cent, Margao seat recorded 10.78 per cent turnout and Ponda Bhawan registered 11.53 per cent turnout till 9 am.

Mapusa seat has 11.9 per cent voting, while Benaulim has recorded 10.26 turnout and Taleigao has record 10.08 per cent voting till 9 am.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and governor PS Sreedharan Pillai cast their votes. While Pillai exercised his franchise at a polling booth in Taleigao Assembly constituency, Sawant voted at a government primary school in Kothambi.

Speaking to media person Sawant said, "I'm in Kothambi village and have cast my vote. I appeal to public to come out in huge numbers to vote. BJP in 10 years have done development works to main a stable government. BJP govt's work is in front of everyone. Utpal Parrikar (independent) & Michael Lobo (Congress) won't win, as BJP is coming with a majority."

Before casting their ballot, Sawant and his wife offered prayers at Shri Rudreshwar Devasthan, Harvalem.

Congress Candidate and former MLA also exercised his franchise at Calangute constituency.

"People voting not for constituency but for Goa. When we talk about Goa, we talk about boys and girls who are unemployed, about mining being closed for last 10 yrs, about problems in tourism industry. People are going to vote for future," he said.

BJP candidate Govind Gaude cast his vote at a polling booth in Priol Assembly constituency.

He urged the voters in Goa to go for voting to get a good government.
