MGP’s Sudin Dhavalikar and two BJP MLAs sworn in as ministers

Goa Governor, PS Sreedharan Pillai, administered the oath of office to MLAs Ramakrishna alias Sudhin Dhavalikar, Subhash Phal Dessai and Nilkanth Halarnkar at Dona Paula, today.

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Madkai MLA Ramakrishna alias Sudhin Dhavalikar was sworn in as a minister along with two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs Nilkanth Halarnkar of Thivim constituency and Subhash Phal Dessai of Sanguem constituency.

All three took the oath in the presence of Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant.

Subhash Phal Dessai, who was nominated as the Deputy Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly, resigned in the morning of Saturday, April 9, 2022, and took oath as ministers on Saturday afternoon.

Despite wining majority seats in the State Assembly election 2022 and claiming to have the support of three independent MLAs, the BJP chose MGP Dhavalikar as one of the ministers.

All three took the oath in the Marathi language, on the occasion of World Konkani Day.

Earlier this week, eight MLAs were sworn in, along with Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.

The portfolios of the three newly-elected MLAs are yet to be announced.
