As Goa Forward Party (GFP) gets two seats - Mayem and Fatorda - as part of its pre-poll alliance with Congress, it is eyeing to get three more seats - Canacona, St. Andre and Mandrem - to contest in the 2022 Goa Assembly elections.

On Sunday, GFP's probable candidate from Mandrem, Deepak Kalangutkar, inaugurated party office in Mandrem in the presence of senior citizen and former sarpanch Ganpat Kalangutkar

Speaking to the media persons, Deepak Kalangutkar said, "Many young people are excited to join Goa Forward Party. We are working in all the 48 booths in Mandrem . We are getting good support from the people and so we are confident of winning this seat".

The GFP candidate also sought blessings from goddess Bhagwati and visited St Antonio Chapel.

Taking a dig at the BJP government, Kalangutkar said, "BJP has failed to solve the problems in Mandrem. Ministers are switching the parties for their personal benefits. This new political culture has affected the progress of the constituency and the state."

Meanwhile. GFP's Jagdish Bhobe has begun door to door campaign at St. Andre while GFP Mayem's candidate Santosh Kumar Sawant has also commenced his election campaign.

It will be interesting to see whether Congress will cede to the demands of GFP and give three more seats to its ally.
