Even though the Congress is yet to declare its candidate from the Siolim seat, former BJP leader Micheal Lobo's wife and former BJP Mahila State Vice President, Delilah Lobo, who is eyeing the ticket, has kicked off her campaign in the Siolim constituency.
On Thursday, she held a meeting with several residents, seeking their support. Later, she also held door-to-door campaigning.
Speaking to media persons, Delilah Lobo said, "a new wave of change has started in Siolim constituency this year. We have full support from female households as well as male voters."
She further stated she had the overwhelming support of voters in Siolim including Sodiem, Oxel and Marna-Siolim, which has lagged far behind in development and people have no alternative but Congress.
Lobo was accompanied by Assagao Sarpanch Hanumant Naik, Deputy Sarpanch Riya Naik, Panch member Kshirsagar Naik and huge numbers of supporters were present.
Assagao sarpanch Hanumant Naik said Siolim's voters are aware a wave of change is brewing in the society as well as in the village. "The current political party will definitely be swept away in this wave. In the history of the country, many women have lit the flame of revolution so far."
On the other hand, BJP’s four-time Siolim MLA Dayanand Mandrekar, who is also in the fray and considered a firm favourite to win the seat again, have started his campaigns as well.
