BJP candidate Govind Gaude files nomination from Priol constituency

With this move, Gaude becomes the first candidate to file nomination for the Goa assembly elections which will be held on February 14.

Former Art and Culture Minister of Goa Govind Gaude on Friday filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Goa assembly elections.

Gaude, who recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), filed his nomination from Priyol constituency. On Friday, he took to Twitter to thank CM Pramod Sawant and BJP Goa."With your blessings and love today, (I) filed the candidature from Priol Assembly Contituency," he tweeted.

With this move, Gaude becomes the first candidate to file nomination for the Goa assembly elections which will be held on February 14.

Gaude had joined the ruling BJP on January 11 in the presence of Goa BJP Election in Charge Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and State president Sadanand Tanavade.

"As an Independent, I have realised that there are certain difficulties. When you are in the political party, the organisation is there to back you. Manpower is very important," Gaude had said.

The election for the 40 seats will take place on February 14, and the ballots will be counted on March 10.
