A month after he joined Trinamool Congress, three-time legislator Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has quit the Mamata Banerjee-led party on Sunday, January 16. He is likely to re-join Congress ahead of 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
In a letter to TMC's party president, Lourenco wrote, "I have decided to resign from the primary mmbership of the All India Trinamool Congress Party with immediate effect."

In a statement issued on Sunday, Mahua Moitra, TMC MP and Goa state incharge, said: “AITC has received a letter from Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco resigning from primary membership of the party. We had welcomed him into the party as we have countless others. Now that he wishes to leave, we wish him well.”
Lobo tweeted, “To strengthen the @INCGoa and to boost our purpose of forming Congress government in 2022 in Goa, I request Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco to join us back.”
In December 2021, Lourenco, a former MLA from Curtarim, had quit the Congress party and the Goa Assembly and joined TMC in the presence of party supremo Mamata Banerjee and national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Kolkata.
Congress had also included Lourenco’s name in the first list of eight candidates in the Assembly poll.
