Goa has smartly positioned itself as a beach destination and wedding destination, even as it has also retained its position as a popular 365-days holiday destination.

The vacation rental company, Airbnb, recently revealed that Goa was one of the top-searched monsoon destinations by both international and domestic tourists. Along with Kerala and Pondicherry, travellers also looked up to explore popular beach destination, Goa.

Airbnb’s General Manager (India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan), Amanpreet Bajaj, said, “It is heartening to see that Airbnb guests from around the world are looking to revisit India as well as explore it for the first time. This bodes well for the sector’s ongoing recovery and for our local community of hosts."

The blurring lines between travel and living have also led many travellers to embrace newfound flexibility. "They are looking to seek inspiration and discover off-the-beaten-path destinations which will develop new tourism economies," he added.

Bajaj said that the preference for the metro cities, as well as popular tourist destinations, indicates the return of travel with workations and vacations, which are on the rise.

The data also revealed that India as a destination is still on the mind of many international travellers who are eagerly looking to stay longer and explore more places than ever before. This is a travel revolution that’s creating more economic opportunities for locals.

The data also showed that metro cities like New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai are also looked up by travellers. Along with beach destinations like Goa, Kerala and Pondicherry as well as the hill stations of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also searched.

Countries like Canada, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Germany and Australia looked up for travel to India.
