June acts as the enthusiastic proposee, showering Goa with rain. In other words, rain marries Goa in June, a passionate union that blankets the state in a verdant embrace and at the same time uncovers its beautiful secrets.

July and August are the blissful honeymoon months when Goa revels in its natural beauty. September acts as the inevitable, but melancholic, parting when the rain departs. But even as it departs, it leaves behind lasting memories for those who experienced its loving embrace.

And how does one feel this loving embrace of the Goan rains? You certainly can't catch it, but can enjoy its bounty by trekking in the Goan wilderness and refreshing yourselves under the gushing waterfalls.

Just the thought of imagining the feeling of the cool rain on your skin, the earthy scent of the wet forest floor, and the mist clinging to the lush vegetation can give one a rush of adrenalin and a feeling of romance.

EMOTIONAL CONNECTION: The rain awakens something primal, a connection to nature's power and beauty.

Goa's many trekking enthusiasts and companies are waiting for the abundance of the rains to pour and the waters to cascade down the hills of the Western Ghats for their annual pilgrimage with nature.

Founder and CEO of Adventure Breaks, Kim Sabir, says his company has been at the forefront of fostering a deep sense of appreciation for nature among its trekkers, and the rainy season is the best time of the year to do so.

TAKE AN ADVENTUROUS BREAK: The June 2024 event schedule of Adventure Breaks.

The monsoon calendar of Adventure Breaks for June will catch the interest of any trekking enthusiast for all its off-beat trails. From jungle hikes to sea caves and forts to hippie trails, Adventure Breaks leaves its participants returning for a repeat experience.

Also, this monsoon, be on the lookout for treks organised by Eco Treks Goa, a group founded by Durgadas Parab. The treks organised by this adventure group are perfect for all levels and accommodate people of all age groups. This monsoon, Eco Treks will start trekking in August to some of the well-known waterfalls of Goa.

BY THE SEASIDE: The ocean treks of Adventure Breaks are an opportunity to see a different face of this coastal paradise.

The founder of the group Durgadas Parab, who has trekked extensively in the hinterlands of Goa, says though he enjoys trekking in the monsoon he is saddened by the waste strewn in the forested areas and urges trekkers to be mindful not to leave behind footprints of garbage.

While trekking is no doubt a fun activity, ensconced deep inside Dharbandora taluka, the Green Goan Village organises glamping in the monsoon. Glamping is a higher version of camping and lets you enjoy the beauty of nature with significantly more comfort and convenience than traditional camping.

DEEP INSIDE: Eco Treks Goa offers waterfall treks in the hinterlands of Goa.

The proprietor of Green Goan Village, Joseph Barreto, is excited to host a glamping activity on his property on June 5, by which time it may start raining. "Glamping allows people to experience the outdoors without sacrificing some of the comforts of home," says Barreto.

His property, situated on the banks of Mandovi River, is open to those who want to come and experience the rains. He also offers treks to Tambdi Surla and Dudhsagar waterfalls. As far as the Dudhsagar waterfalls are concerned, I am not too sure whether trekkers will be allowed this monsoon season, he adds.

THE OUTDOORS: Don't miss the opportunity to go glamping at the Green Goan Village in Dharbandora.

The first kiss of rain is a time of celebration in Goa, and for adventure enthusiasts, there is no better time to witness nature's awakening, witness those soothing sounds and sights and see nature's cycle come full circle.
