With changing times, we are often left questioning, “Why are bad things happening around us?” and “What is the reason behind all of these?” Amidst this constant change in the world consumed by consumerism, one may find it difficult to wade off negativity within and around us.

If you are one of them who is disturbed by this and seeking peace and a purpose of knowing what life is all about, embark on a spiritual journey by participating in the Som Yag Yadnya from February 5 to 10, 2023, at Vishwati Vishweshwar Temple, near Bodgeshwar Mapusa, Goa.

The event is organised by Dainik Gomantak and Gomantak Times digital of the Pune-based Sakal Group.

THE IDEA BEHIND SOM YAG YADNYA

Som Yag Yadnya aims to propitiate peace and energise and destroy all the undesirable elements to protect the Goan environment. It aims to destroy all the negativity around and create an environment conducive to mindfulness.

WHO IS CONDUCTING THE YADNYA?

Agnihotri Suhota Deepak Apte is a third-generation devotee of Agnihotra Vrat (Ritual of Fire Yadnya Worship). He is the third generation of the Apte family to take the Agnihotra vow in Goa.

Both his father Somyaji Deepak Apte and grandfather Somyaji Mahadev (Sakha) Apte were worshipers of “tretagni” ritual. With the blessings of Sadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj of Akkalkot, Shree Sakha Dikshit Apte, grandfather of Suhotaji, began to perform tretagni Agnihotra.

He performed this ritual for 48 years with full devotion. Suhota Apte completed his education in Vedas for five years at Shankar pathshala in Goa. He continued to study the Krishna Yajurved Shakha along with Shrot (Agnihotradik) with his grandfather. He started performing the Agnihotra ritual in the year 2018 and also performed Somyag at Akkalkot to attain the degree of Somyaji.

Somyaji Suhota Dikshit Apte and his wife Smrudhi Suhota Dikshit Apte will be conducting the Agnishtom Som Yag.

POSITIVE VIBRATIONS

Som Yag Yadnya will witness the chanting of three Vedas — Rig, Yajur and Sama — creating a sacred fire, believed to cleanse, transform the current energy into higher, positive vibrations and elevate one to an ideal state of consciousness.
