This Sunday, April 23, 2023, watch a theatrical performance, Betrayal, by Arundhati Chattopadhyaya will be staged at 6.45 pm at the Church of Santa Monica, Old Goa.
Betrayal depicts the trials and tribulations of Christ's life through physical theatre.
BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE
The script for the show has been created based on stories from the Bible. Music and sound, too, has been generated in intuitive compositions to go with the atmosphere and architecture of the space. The actors are from various professional backgrounds, and have come together to create this piece.
This site-specific performance, developed as part of the ongoing exhibition 'Engraved Treasures - Part II', also builds a collaboration with the participants of Sunaparanta Art Initiator Lab (SAIL), a program run by curator and art historian Lina Vincent along with Sunaparanta Centre for the Arts, Altinho, Panjim.
Other events such as ‘Art Of Type: The Leuven Bible, 1740 and how it & how it ties to modern experiences of a book' by Arathi Abhraham will be held on April 28, 2023 at 4.30pm. This will be held online via Zoom.
'Mapped projections: An immersive experience' by Kalpit Gaonkar; and ‘Beati Sunt’, a poetry reading in response to the engravings by Pragya Bhagat will take place on April 30, 2023 at Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), Old Goa.
‘All It Takes’, interpreting the scriptural essence through dance, will be performed by Impana Kulkarni at the Museum of Christian Art, Old Goa, at 7.30pm on April 30, 2023.
