DKA's ‘ROMANXICHO PATXAI’ CELEBRATIONS
The Dalgado Konknni Akademi, Panjim, will celebrate the birth anniversary of ‘Romanxicho Patxai’, Reginald Fernandes, on June 14, 2022 at 4.30 pm at the DKA’s Reginald Fernandes Conference Hall, Panjim. Konknni writer, Brazinho Soares Kalapurkar, will speak on the occasion.
At a time when electronic media was unheard of, reading was a favourite pastime among the people. A popular novelist back in the day, Reginald wrote over 200 novels in Konknni. Young readers were generally attracted to his well-knit and descriptive love stories.
Publishers eagerly awaited his new novels, with many of them queuing outside his residence to get the copyrights. In spite of his popularity and contribution to the Konknni language, he has not received the recognition that he deserves.
The Dalgado Konknni Akademi has named their conference hall “Reginald Fernandes’ Hall in his honour. DKA celebrates his birth anniversary, as ‘Reginald Fernandes Day’ on June 14 every year.
