Summer is the time for a little discomfort, but nonetheless, it is a time for festivals, and Goans get into celebration mode to beat the heat.
So, if you are visiting Goa, the cool thing to do would be to head south to Colva where the Spirit of Goa Festival is happening on the SAG ground, starting today (April 21, 2023) and ending on April 23.
The main idea behind the three-day festival is to showcase Goa's brews, heritage, history and culture. The venue will have stalls serving Goan food.
And to enjoy this delectable Goan cuisine, gulp down urrak or feni -- Goa's summer appetisers. These will be available at the stalls too.
All three days of the festival, which is organised by the Goa Tourism Department, promise to take entertainment to a new level from 6 pm onwards.
Some of the uplifting performances to watch on the first day (April 21) are Lorna Cordeiro, Goa's singing sensation, and comedians Ambe & Ben Evangelist, the duo who will add fun and laughs to the evening.
Some of the Goa Tourism Department officials said the idea is to showcase the other side of Goa and also attract tourists. They said Colva needs no introduction, so it was the automatic choice to host the festival, they added.
