Get ready for another edition of ‘Patoiechem fest’ hosted by Goencho Festakar (Festival man of Goa), Marius Fernandes, in collaboration with Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa on September 3, 2023, near Nossa de Senhora Chapel, Carambolim.

The much-loved Patoiechem fest focuses on the humble patoli or patoie, which is a traditional sweet dish of Goa. It is made of rice flour, stuffed with jaggery-coconut and wrapped in banana leaf.

The festival will not only focus on patoleos but will also highlight various heritage items such as ghumot, batica, millets, mollam and others.

Resource person at the fest, Irene Dias, will conduct a short demonstration on how this Goa's much-loved sweet is prepared, while Shaila Khadeparkar will focus on the art of making mollam.

At the fest, visitors will get to see different types of millets such as bajra, ragi, kakun, cheena, sanwa, kodo, jowar, kutki, kuttu and chaulai on display.

This is Goencho Festakar’s 79th people’s fest and will focus on celebrating inclusion, diversity, music and millets.

The idea behind this fest is to educate, empower and enable the people to know about their heritage.
