Painting has been known to be therapeutic for the longest time.
Whether you're seated in front of a giant easel, in the corner of your bedroom, or at the beach, there's something about painting that makes you forget all your worries and immerse yourself in the world you're creating on canvas.
This Sunday, August 18, 2024, brings an opportunity that will not only elevate your painting experience, but also bring joy to several homeless pups.
You've likely heard of 'Sip and Paint,' but have you ever heard of 'Paint with Puppies'?
Organised by Pawasana, a Delhi-based animal welfare organisation, 'Paint with Puppies' turns a simple painting session into a heart-warming experience, featuring adorable Indie puppies that have been rescued from the streets and are available for adoption.
Wearing the proud tag of being the first organisation to come up with something as unique as a ‘Paint with Puppies’ session, Pawasana has already organised their fair share of such sessions in other states before adding Goa to the list.
The event will be held at Moki Bar and Kitchen in Sangolda, running from 5 pm to 7 pm. All proceeds will go towards animal welfare, vaccinations or sterilisation drives, depending on current needs.
Explaining the concept behind the workshop, Tanushree Wagle, a city partner with Pawasana, shared, "Many times, people like animals, but are scared to interact with them. An opportunity like this helps them become more comfortable around animals, especially indie breeds that are just as cute and cheerful as other breeds, but often go unnoticed in the clamour to adopt only pure-bred pups."
Other times, you simply want to spend some time around a loving animal and relax, either ways, attending a workshop like this fits the bill perfectly.
Tanushree, an animal rescuer herself, attended and loved a 'Paint with Puppies' workshop before getting involved with Pawasana.
For this event in Goa, "All the puppies coming in have been rescued. We have a litter from Sucorro and another from Assagao," she smiles.
Sometimes, the day feels heavy, and all you want to do is disconnect from the world. And, if tomorrow feels like one of those days, head over to Sangolda, grab a beer, and let your inner artist out while a puppy in your lap judges your painting skills, but loves you regardless of how good or bad they are.
And, if one painting session isn’t enough, perhaps adopting a puppy and having countless more might just be the way to go!
