This is an interesting workshop for anyone who wants to be an entrepreneur, but is clueless about what to start. Showcasing the prospects and scope in the field of mushroom cultivation, Goa University’s Educational Outreach Committee (EOC) will host a one-day workshop on techniques and methods of cultivating oyster and milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) at Goa University faculty block auditorium, Bambolim, Goa.
The workshop aims to provide participants with knowledge of mushroom cultivation. It will touch upon the scientific techniques and economics of mushroom cultivation.
The resource persons for the workshop are the co-founders of Mushroom Connect, Aduja Naik and Hashma Mujawar and Agricultural Officer of the Directorate of Agriculture, Gauri Prabhudessai.

Giving details about the one-day workshop, Chairperson of the EOC of Social Entrepreneurship, Swacchata and Rural Engagement (Cell) (SES-REC) at the University, Pranay Morajkar said, “The participants will be introduced to oyster and milky mushroom cultivation. They will learn about the scientific techniques and economic perspective. The challenges and the science behind the cultivation will also be dealt with during the workshop.”
The workshop will include demonstration and a guided visit to Goa University’s mushroom cultivation and incubation centre. The demonstration will cover areas such as substrate inoculation and spawning methods.
Morajkar also said that besides this workshop, the centre plans on organizing similar workshops across various villages of Goa, like Marcaim, Gudi Paroda, Nauxi, Siridao and Cacra. These are the five villages adopted by Goa University so as to promote and encourage people to consider mushroom cultivation from the entrepreneurial perspective.
