Noted public intellectual Gurcharan Das will speak on the topic “Don’t just make a living, make a life” at the International Centre Goa (ICG) on August 22, 2023.
He will be speaking between 10.30 am and 12 noon at the Abolim hall of ICG. The event is open and free to the public. This event has been jointly organised by the Rajasthan-based organisation Bika Utsav and the ICG.
Addressing a media conference in the city on Friday, Anil Gupta, the founder of Bika Utsav, said, “Gurcharan Das is one of India’s leading intellectuals, a respected author and a corporate guru. It will be a pleasure to listen to him.”

Gurcharan Das is a bestselling author and public intellectual known for a much-acclaimed trilogy on the classical Indian goals for life: India Unbound, The Difficulty of Being Good and Kama: The Riddle of Desire.
His other books include India Grows at Night: A Liberal Case for a Strong State, A Fine Family (a novel), The Elephant Paradigm (a book of essays) and Three Plays (an anthology). He is editing for Penguin a 15-volume history, The Story of Indian Business.
An honours graduate in philosophy (Phi Beta Kappa) from the prestigious Harvard University, Das was CEO of Procter & Gamble India and managing director of Procter & Gamble Worldwide (Strategic Planning) before he quit to become a full-time writer.
He writes a regular column for the Times of India and five Indian language papers, and contributes to the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal and Foreign Affairs. He is a speaker for some of the world’s largest corporations.
