The most interesting person in the room usually has all attention on them. And TEDxGIM is here to present the best stories built on the foundation of experiences and hardships.
A brave woman pilot who helped extract Indian students from war-stricken Ukraine, a Mrs World and a childhood amputee who rose to occupy a senior managerial position are but a few examples among other inspiring and notable speakers from whose stories audiences will be able to seek inspiration.
TEDx is a grassroots initiative, created in the spirit of TED’s overall mission to research and discover “ideas worth spreading”. These are events organised by passionate individuals who seek to uncover new ideas and share the latest research in their local areas that spark conversations in their communities.
TEDx events include live speakers and recorded TED Talks and are organised independently under a free license granted by TED.
TEDx GIM is a collaboration between TEDx and the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). GIM independently organises this event to bring together passionate people from all walks of life to discover new concepts that inspire discussions about how learning never stops.
The event is going to be held at the Goa Institute of Management campus in Sanquelim on February 5, 2023.
The theme for this year’s TEDx GIM talk is “Dawn of Disruption”. Although the word “disruption” carries a negative connotation in general terms, it has a positive association when used in the domains of technology, entertainment, science and design.
The lineup for this year’s event consists of personalities who have strayed from the path of convention and achieved great heights despite an array of hardships.
The list of speakers includes the winner of the Mrs World 2022 title, Sargam Koushal, from a small village in Jammu and Kashmir; the courageous Captain Shivani Kalra, who was a part of Operation Ganga, which brought back Indian students stranded in Ukraine; and Sarrah Kapasi, co-founder of D-Alive Health, India's first company to provide holistic wellness solutions that are specially curated for diabetic patients.
Kshitiz Aneja, who suffered a massive setback in his childhood when he was amputated at the age of 9, but has now flourished in his career and holds a managerial position and Priyal Agrawal, a young social entrepreneur and certified sexuality educator, who will instruct the students of GIM on the value of being conscious of one's physical body, are some of the other speakers.
A pupil of Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj, son of Pandit Birju Maharaj, and Sudip Chakraborty will be demonstrating the theme of “Dawn of Disruption” through a fascinating kathak performance. The musical aspect will be covered by santoor player Ninad Daithankar, who will display his expertise at the function.
Going beyond motivational speeches, the event will witness two creative artists, making room for artistic expression and talent through mesmerising performances.
One of the best ways to learn is by example, which is why events like TEDX are of great importance in educational institutions. Every year, through TEDX GIM, we introduce our students to a diverse variety of experienced individuals who have inspiring stories to tell about their journeys.
“This year’s theme ‘Dawn of Disruption’ stands for breaking barriers and taking the road less travelled. We hope this aids the next generation of business leaders to amp up their drive and motivation towards achieving their career goals,” said Director of GIM Dr Ajit Parulekar.
It goes without saying that every institute wants its students to prosper in the big league. Sticking to their vision of creating smart business leaders who are ready to face the world, the GIM hosts the TEDx event annually to inspire and enlighten the next generation of entrepreneurs and business moguls.
