Goa is set to get into merry-making mood with carnival celebrations from north to south, even as first-time tourists remain eager to catch a glimpse of the State's cultural diversity through the float parades.

The Margao Carnival 2023 float parade will be held on February 19 in Margao. On February 20 and 21, various entertainment events such as fancy dress competitions have been organised.

At a press conference, Margao Carnival 2023 Committee members informed that for the last two years, the people of Salcete were deprived of a full-fledged Carnival due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year, post the pandemic, the Carnival celebration will be grand in Margao, they asserted.

Committee member, Camilo Barretto, informed that the float parade route will have several entertainment programmes starting from the Holy Spirit church in Margao to the Margao Municipality. The float parade will be flagged off from the Old Hospicio at 3 pm in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the first day, he added.

On the second day, there will be events like Khel tiatr and a Konkani musical show. On the third day, there will be a DJ band music show and other entertainment events.

While the Margao carnival is a crowd-puller, internal villages too are gearing up to host carnival in a small way.

In the north, at Goa's little Russia, Morjim, carnival festivites will take place on February 20, 2023, from 3 pm onwards.

The float parade will start from Morjim Khind to Morjim Circle. It will be then followed by a musical and dance show. On February 20-21, there will be dance, food and music galore.
