This weekend: Watch a rare astronomical phenomenon

VENUS-JUPITER APPULSE

In a rare and much-awaited event, Venus and Jupiter will appear to practically touch each other in the early morning hours, before dawn, on May 1, 2022. The phenomenon can be viewed without a telescope. To observe it, look towards the southeast, about an hour before sunrise, for the best view of the breathtakingly close appulse. The Association of the Friends of Astronomy (Goa) has made arrangements to view the special event through telescopes at the following locations on May 1, 2022:

  • Public Astronomical Observatory, Junta House, Panjim

  • Fatorda Grounds, Margao

  • 1930 Mall, Vasco

  • Government College Grounds, Sanquelim

  • Helipad, opp Bodgeshwar temple, Mapusa

  • Shree Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Canacona

  • Vidya Prabodini High School, Porvorim

  • Harmal Panchakroshi High School, Harmal

  • NB Sports Club Morida, Cuncolim

TIMINGS: 4.30 am to 5.30 am
