WATCH AN ENGLISH PLAY
While there’s plenty of traditional local theatre (tiatr) to watch in Goa, you can also enjoy a bit of English drama by talented local theatre groups and artistes.
One such play is The Dumb Waiter, which will be staged on June 29, 2024 at Sanskriti Bhavan in Panjim. The play was written by Harold Pinter, a British playwright, screenwriter, director and actor, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005.
The Dumb Waiter is a one-act play depicting the power of authority and power imbalances. The 55 minute play has been directed by Ankush Pednekar; and stars Mayur Mayenkar and Salil Naik.
The lighting and sets have been arranged by Dnyanesh Moghe; with music by Sachin Chowgule, while Sanjay Gaonkar has done the setup.
The play is being performed under the Department of Art and Culture’s Prayog Saanj project, and is open to the general public.
