‘Dev Tumkam Bhogsum’ is the latest tiatr by Roseferns and is a family drama which will keep the audience riveted

After crossing the century mark, Roseferns’ 103rd production, Dev Tumkam Bhogsum, is once again a family melodrama loaded with twists and turns that making  viewing interesting.

For all the misdeeds in life, tiatr, Dev Tumkam Bhogsum, throws light on the virtue of forgiveness and repentance as it will only help maintain cordial relations among the members of the family.

ABOUT THE TIATR

The curtains unveil a scene wherein an elderly couple, Armand (Roseferns) and Gracy (Candida), are on their way to Vailankanni. They wish to express gratitude for receiving the gift of a son after several years.

There, they unexpectedly encounter an educated unemployed youth, Keagan (Remson Cardozo), who is beaten up by a group of beggars. Expressing sympathy towards the frustrated youth, Armand decides to help Keagan pursue his studies.

In the tiatr, Dev Tumkam Bhogsum, the story is about Armand and Gracy’s son, Joshua (Rio de Verna) and his girlfriend Reema (Joylita). Joshua resides with his guardians and his uncle Justin (Nato).

After marriage, Reema tries to have an upper hand in the family and ill-treats her in-laws. She also wins support from her husband and consequently treats her in-laws like dirt.

There’s more trouble in the family when Reema’s ex-fiancé Venzy (Francisco) makes a comeback. Reema is nervous when she sees Venzy and is unable to handle the tense situation.

All the while, Reema was under the impression that Venzy had gone abroad and settled there for good. But, the truth is something else – Venzy was put behind bars for his misdeeds and is now free!

When Joshua returns home and sees Venzy, Reema lies to her hubby that Venzy is her brother. Venzy also has proof that Reema is his sister.

Now, the threes come together to grab the ancestral property of Armand and dump the aged couple out on the streets. Check out what follows next on stage in this family drama.

BEHIND THE SCENES

As the elderly father, Roseferns is swift in his dialogues, while Candida, although in a double role, extends good support in the main cast.

Joylita, Rio de Verna and Nato come together to make the show a success in their own respective characters.

Francisco is projected in the negative role and he acts in style. Check out his witty line ‘I’m Venzy, do not take me easy’. Remson Cardozo and Rons as the doctor and police inspector, respectively, are striking.

In the comic acts, comedian Nato takes along with him Agnelo, Alica and Stephen, and they all bring in laughter on stage. They are a treat to watch, but the scene at ‘Hotel Chabuk de Goa’ stretches for a long time and results in boredom.

For the listening pleasure of the audience, Joylita comes on stage with the opening song. There are solos from Remson, Rons, Joylita and Roseferns a little later.

A political song by Saby de Divar receives applause from the tiatr fans. Other songs from Joylita and Saby de Divar; Candida and Remson; Nato and Remson; Rons, Nato and Agnelo; Alica, Stephen and Agnelo; are a treat to the ears.

Soirikarn, another solo from Alica, is equally pleasing and worth listening to. The musicians offstage, Alloy (trumpet), Jayne (saxophone), Josly (keyboard), Elvis (bass) and Ivo (drums) have provided good live music.

Anthony de Ambaji has worked on the stage sets, while Sanio handled the lights.
