Regina Fernandes was a native of Raia, Goa. She was first seen on the tiatr stage at the young age of 23. She later went on to make history despite being on stage for only a period of 4 short years, following which she passed away. Her short-lived but moving theatre presence is felt even today. Even now, she is fondly remembered as “the first lady on the tiatr stage”.
To commemorate this event, the Tiatr Academy of Goa presents the Young Achievers Award to two young personalities who have contributed to the art of tiatr. This year the award will be presented to Aveena Pereira and Senon Silvestre De Souza. The award ceremony will be held at the Multipurpose Hall, Directorate of Art and Culture, Panjim, on November 16, 2022, at 3.30 pm.
Senior tiatrist Sharon Mazarello will be the chief guest of the evening with Ashok Parab, Deputy Director, Directorate of Art and Culture as the guest of honour. Once the award ceremony has ended, a Konkani musical show will be presented by Socorro de St. Cruz, followed by the prize distribution for Kantaranchem Diaz, a competition of duets, duos, trios, quartets/quintets and choral songs. The Tiatr Academy of Goa invites one and all to grace this occasion in large numbers.
