Through the lens: Goan ferry boats and their local essence

As part of World Photography Day, Prasand Pankar's CMYK Academy of Photography hosted an exhibition-cum-photography contest Haav Saiba Paltadi Veta (topic ‘Life in and around Goan Ferry Boat’) at the Big Foot in Loutolim, Goa.

The exhibition was held on August 13, 2023, where the students of CMYK Academy exhibited their photographs which showcased local life of Goans and how these ferry boats are an integral part of Goa's unique identity.

This photograph by Harsh Kamat won the second prize at the contest.

Mukesh Ghatwal, Goa's popular music composer, was the chief guest at the exhibition-cum photography contest.

Among the many entries 'Pankaj Kudtarkar most promising photographer' award was awarded to Bharti Naik Kudtarkar.

The first prize for the CMYK WPD exhibition-cum-photography contest 2023 was won by Salonee Jain, followed by Harsh Kamat, who won the second prize and Atri Kambli bagged the third prize.

Ruhi Kerkar won the 'Dipti Bondre Best Captioned Photograph' award.

On the occasion, senior photographer William Oscar Rodrigues was felicitated.

CMYK Academy of Photography is known for conducting several photography classes, workshops and events. It focuses on the fundamentals of photography, practice with SLR and manual camera and also gives advance tips and training related to planning, zoom burst, metering system, creative use of flash, outdoor photography etc.

The exhibition is open for public viewing till August 31, 2023 at the Big Foot, Loutolim, South Goa.
