Roz Angon (Rose Garden) band will premiere in South Goa at the launch of the Heritage Mansion Courtyard Concert on August 19, 2023, at the Silva Heritage in Benaulim, an event which is a showcase of Benaulim-based Art Escape Experience.

The event is being held to commemorate World Goa Day. It is curated by The Live Music Project (TLMP), a unique platform in the country without any barriers to music genres, which is an open canvas for all musicians, performing artists to collaborate and be a part of a growing music community.

The venue: Silva Heritage in Benaulim, South Goa.

Roz Angon is a seven-piece band led by Goa-born Jose Neil Gomes, who is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, composer, arranger and music producer.

As a touring musician, in the last decade or so, he has regularly travelled and performed across the globe, with critically acclaimed Indian artistes such as Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhan and Papon. He has played at prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Nokia Theatre, Hollywood Bowl, O2 Arena, Apollo Hammersmith, amongst others.

The concert (which is part of a series) will play inside the Silva Heritage with the audience around the corridors of the courtyard (Roz Angon) and the band will be in the foyer area facing the courtyard. This is an exclusive concert for 100 people only.

Besides Neil, the lineup of musicians for this concert includes: Kaprila Keishing - vocals; Sampriti Dastidar - vocals; Joe Ferrao - bass; David - saxophone; Rohit - trumpet and Vaibhav Jaiswal - drums.

Neil believes that the language one learns first determines how he or she perceives the world. Growing up in Goa in the early 90s, Konkani was the window he viewed the world from. However, he partially forgot about that for a decade, when he lived in Bombay (now Mumbai).

Roz Angon evokes the feeling of nostalgia and it is an attempt to address the ails of a briskly changing landscape and culture of Goa. Roz Angon (Rose Garden) conjures up memories of a small courtyard at the centre of old houses in the Konkan region of India, that brought air and sunlight into the home.

Art Escape Experience will curate diverse cultural experiences in music, art, food, drinks, dance, theatre and films, at different stunning locations in Goa and around the country. The idea is to curate limited-capacity exclusive concerts once a month in incredible Goan heritage mansion homes in south and north Goa.

Silva Heritage is a 350-year colonial mansion which is a fine example of the confluence of two cultures, Portuguese Catholic and a subtle Hindu past. It is one of the few grand houses surviving today.
