On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Museum of Christian Art (MoCA) organised an elocution competition on the topic 'My Favourite Heritage Monument in Goa' and 'Importance of Heritage Tourism'.
The elocution competition 'Tales Beyond Time: A History Voyage' was held in two categories. Firstly, the topic 'My Favourite Heritage Monument in Goa' was for age group 14 -16 years (category 1) and the 'Importance of Heritage Tourism' for age group 17- 20 years (category 2).
The participants spoke about the heritage monument that is dear to them and how they share a deep personal tale of connection with it.
During the competition, participants highlighted some iconic heritage landmarks such as the Aguada Fort, Basilica of Bom Jesus and St Augustine complex.
The participants also portrayed good oratory skills with compelling articulation and were judged by Heta Pandit, Sarita Monserrate and architect Noah Fernandes.
The winner of category 1 was Suzana Chandal, while Noela Immaculate Fernandes was the runner-up.
In category 2, Valanka Fernandes was the winner and David Marottikal was the runner up.
The event was an enriching one as it symbolised not only the culmination of an intellectual endeavor but also a deeper appreciation and comprehension of Goa's rich heritage and its intertwined relationship with the world of tourism.
