You have been a versatile and acclaimed film actor. Now with the film Nidarr you are stepping into the field of production. How did you get the idea of making a film like Nidarr?

I have played various characters in a negative role in films, and people have tagged me as a deadly villain. I have played the role of a good character in films, and these films have also been praised by people. With all my experience working in the industry, I decided to start producing my own films. That opportunity came in now in the form of Nidarr. It is the outcome of a detailed discussion with my friends in the film fraternity.

Nidarr is your first film and has not yet been released in the commercial market. Why did you decide to show it at the Film Bazaar at IFFI?

Nidarr is my first ever film as a producer. Before beginning my journey in the commercial film production line, I want to learn from experts in the film production industry. Also through the Film Bazaar, I want to testify to the successful making of this film. Hence, I have brought this film to the Film Bazaar.

You are launching your son Raghav Rishi through Nidarr. What has been his experience in the film industry?

Many people in this industry try to launch their children with the objective of continuing their legacy. But I have not tried anything of the sort. Raghav’s interest in acting has brought him here. In my opinion, one should pursue the career they are interested in. Raghav has put a lot of effort into improving his acting skills. He has slogged to learn different perspectives in this industry. It is this diligent effort that has brought him to this industry. One needs sound experience before starting a career in the film industry. Raghav has this strong backing from his previous projects. One such film of his is called The Great Indian Escape - Khulay Asmaan Ki Oar, in which he acted well. The film is produced by the Air Force for their pilots. The story is based on the India-Pakistan War of 1965. Through this film, Raghav was able to inspire the pilots of the Air Force. The present film Nidarr is also meant to be inspirational.

Who are the other people involved in the making of Nidarr?

Mandeep Chahal has directed the film and Marukh Mirza Beig has written the screenplay of the film. Sunny and Inder Bawra have composed the music. There are a total of five songs. Newcomer Kulnoor Brar is playing the female lead. They share good onscreen chemistry, and people will also appreciate it. Besides this, Vindu Dara Singh, son of veteran actor Dara Singh, is also playing an important role in the film.

Would you mind telling us a little about the plot of the film?

Oh sure! The film showcases love and trust with respect to country and family. The father and son portrayed in the film do not spend quality time together and the relationship becomes tense with the prospect of the two drifting apart completely. But eventually, the son shows that he is able to bear his responsibilities towards his family, father and country. Today’s youth may not be as expressive or outgoing as before, but they are still vigilant and serious about their responsibilities. They equally love their families and their country. Nidarr was produced to showcase this feeling of love and their ability to take on responsibility.

Any specific reason you named your production house Geri Route Films?

Yes! Geri Route is a place where all our friends use to sit and discuss various topics. I discussed the idea of producing Nidarr at this place. Hence I named my production house Geri Route Films.

Where was Nidarr shot, and is the film being dubbed in other Indian languages too?

The entire shooting of Nidarr was done in Punjab, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Advanced technology from Bollywood and Hollywood has been used in its making. We do intend to dub this film in Hindi and Telugu languages.
