At the recently held World Nature Photography Awards in the United Kingdom (UK), Goa’s Gautam Kamat Bambolkar's photograph 'The Abandoned' won the Gold prize. Under ‘Plants and Fungi’ category Bambolkar submitted a photograph of an abandoned house in Raia, this shot was chosen among the many entries that made it to the competition.
Gautam hails from Mahalaxmi, Bandora-Ponda and is currently working at Google as an Interaction Designer in New York. He is also the alumnus of Goa College of Art, Panaji.
The World Nature Photography Awards, UK, features work of the some of the world’s best nature photographers who are keen on showcasing nature’s beauty to a wider audience. There are various categories ranging from landscape photography to animals in their habitats, photojournalism, and humans’ interaction with nature, etc. Photographs from across the world send their entries and the best ones based on their artistic merit, originality, subject, and style are chosen.

Gautam was recently awarded The Architecture Photography Master Prize (APMP) in California for his photo series 'Man-Made Caves' and single photo 'Reimagined Vassel'.
He has also won a Gold each at the Paris Photo Prize and Moscow International Foto Awards, and silver at Tokyo International Foto Awards.
