Goa prepares for Diwalitful experience

From huge effigies of Narkasuras to colorful akashakindils, lights and more, Goa is getting ready for Diwali!

Goa's festive spirit is unmatched! You may wonder why we say this, but whether it's a small or big occasion, Goa knows how to celebrate any festival in a grand manner.

Diwali is just around the corner, but preparations for the festival began some months ago, with youngsters preparing huge effigies of Narkasura.

As the months turned into weeks, and then into days, and now into just a few hours, people are hurriedly working to get their homes festive ready.

The markets of Goa are festive ready.

MARKET READY !

You can find roadside kiosks to markets flooded with several festive decorations filling the air with an expectant excitement.

The variety of vibrant coloured aakash kandils in the markets is sure to give market-goers a tough time choosing the ones that will best suit their homes and add beauty.

LIGHTS UP

A variety of clay lamps crafted by local artists can be found in the market, along with lamps made from different materials. These are available in different sizes and colours.

SWEET TREATS

No matter what festival it is, it is never complete without sweets. The demand for sweets has increased, leading to an increase in orders at sweet shops. Besides, increasing their orders, the vendors in Goa have introduced pretty looking packages to attract more customers.

JUST FOR KIDS

People who can't create large effigies of Narkasura opt for smaller ones to bring joy to their children, who are captivated by them.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Apart from individuals buying decorative items, young people, on the contrary, are swiftly adding the finishing touches to their Narkasura effigies, which are still unfinished. These effigies are then take to parades which take place a night prior to Diwali in major cities of Goa - Panjim, Ponda, Mapusa, Vasco, Margao and others.

As you wander the streets of Goa these days, you can witness the atmosphere and spirit of Diwali.

Houses are being decorated to appear beautiful for the festival, and large effigies of Narkasuras are being constructed. There is a lot happening !
