Thumri is a captivating vocal genre within the Indian classical music tradition, known for its emotional depth and lyrical beauty. The term Thumri is derived from the Hindi verb "thumuknaa," which means "to walk with a dancing gait in such a way that the ankle bells tinkle."

This origin reflects the style’s intrinsic connection to dance and movement, suggesting that Thumri is not just a musical form but also an expression of graceful and evocative gestures.

It is an interactive performance designed to actively involve the audience in the artistic experience, transforming a traditional passive viewing into an engaging, participatory event.

This approach not only showcases the artistic content but also invites the audience to become a part of the performance itself, fostering a deeper connection between the performers and the viewers.

While Thumri will no doubt give the guests a good cultural experience, there is another side to the evening, and that's food curated by well-known chef Ajanta Burman, who specialises in both traditional Bengali and Bihari cuisines.

With her authentic and refined cooking, Burman is all set to elevate the dining experience of the guests to match the sophistication of the Thumri performance.
