Listen to the traditional sounds of mando and fado music on August 5, 2023, at Madragoa, Panjim.
Nadia Rebelo (fadista), Sherwyn Correia (fadista), Orlando de Noronha (Portuguese guitar/violin), and Carlos Meneses (guitar) will provide the music for the evening.
Guests will also get a chance to sample Indo-Portuguese fare during the event.
ABOUT FADO & MANDO STYLES
The fado is a kind of musical style found in Portugal, and comprises a vocalist and one or two musicians using traditional Portuguese instruments, such as the Portuguese guitar.
The mandó is a musical genre found in Goa, and was more common in the olden days than it is today. It is characterised by a group of people, singing and dancing to slow music, and accompanied by the violin and the Goan ghumot (a local terracotta hand drum).
Madragoa is Goa's first house of fado and mandó, where guests get the opportunity to hear both music styles along with creative variations in the singing and music styles.
