Art is a feeling, and everything that we feel has the ability to send ripples across the room and comfort another. But of course, only if conveyed, recreated or presented in the right manner and at the right place.

With that aim in mind, the Goa Open Arts is set to host the Goa Open Arts Festival from February 23 to 28 at the Old GMC in Panjim.

Promising some of the best talent from across the state, entry to the festival is free of cost, and comes with an invitation to all to witness the beauty of art by some of Goa’s best artists.

“Preparations are in full swing. After so many months of communicating on e-mail and phone, it's energising to be all together in one place and start to see the artists' works and the other elements of the festival come to life,” says Sitara Chowfla from Goa Open Arts.

Celebrating several forms of art, the exhibition will feature over 50 Goa-based artists, who will showcase their skills through the medium of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performances and more.

“We also see that a lot of artists come to do their installations with the help of their friends and families, and we feel that is really representative of the warmth and community spirit of the festival. We can't wait to open our doors to the public tomorrow,” adds Sitara, who is very excited to see it all come together.

The list of artists who will be featured includes Nilankur Das, Subodh Kerkar, Moda Goa, Orijit Sen, Asavari Gurav, evildog, Goa Artists Collective and Aldona Community to name a few.

There will be a screening of the film, Goldfish, as the festival highlight, which will be followed by a quick chat session with Bollywood actress, Kalki Koechlin.

With an exciting line-up of films, music, poetry, a pop-up market, good food and performances that are sure to linger on your mind long after you’ve left, the Goa Open Arts Festival is one you don’t want to miss.
