Museum of Goa (MOG), presents a talk on ‘Faith at Roadside Shrines’ by Dr Vidya Kamat, a multi-disciplinary artist and research scholar in comparative mythology. The session will be held on May 28, 2023 at the MOG premises in Pilerne.

Participants will discover the untold stories behind these sacred structures and their influence on culture. The work of Dr Kamat revolves around traditional Indian beliefs and urban Indian life, questioning the role of society.

A common sight in India, roadside shrines serve as reminders of the cultures they represent. Dr Kamat has conducted extensive research on such shrines in Mumbai and their connection with the city.

During the talk, she will share insights into the making of roadside shrines and the people behind them.

Dr Kamat is a founding member of the Centre for the Study of Mythology and Culture and the curator of Talking Myths Project, and her work focuses on the influence of mythology in contemporary society as well as preserving traditional tales from India.
