Looking to explore Goa beyond its beaches and get an insight into the locale and life of the people here? Then, the Heritage Walk Festival happening from April 1, 2023 to April 16, 2023 is not to be missed!
The Heritage Walk Festival in Goa is the time of the year when you can freely walk the streets of Goa and unearth interesting facts and stories that you don't come across very often. And, in order to make this walk festival informative, interesting and fun, the Goa Heritage Action Group (GHAG) has planned over 28 walks, which will be held in two phases.
AIM OF THE HERITAGE WALK FESTIVAL
The first phase of the festival will be from April 1, 2023 to April 9, 2023 and will see renowned personalities and companies curating the walks.
The aim is to create a landscape of experience and stories through the lens of the walk leaders.
PHASE 1 - HERITAGE WALK FESTIVAL
The walk festival begins on April 1, 2023. The first walk of the day will be at 8 am and will focus on Panjim’s Khazan and Salts Pans. Tallulah D’Silva will explain the benefits of khazan lands in Goa.
At 4 pm on the same day, one can delve into the secrets of the port city of Vasco with Tejas Pandit.
Day 2 of the festival is about exploring Goa’s villages – Saligao Village Saunter with Make It Happen will take place at 8 am. That will be followed at 4 pm, by the Goan Hinterland Experience, Rivona, with Soul Travelling.
The following days are dedicated to fans of Panjim city, who want to explore the capital city beyond what it is. One Day 4 of the festival, which is April 3, 2023, go on tree walk at the Altinho Joggers Park led by Arti Das at 8 am, and learn about the types of trees and their uniqueness.
On April 4, 2023 and April 5, 2023, at 4 pm, there's the Campal Heritage Walk by Sanjeev Sardesai; and Panjim Waterfront Walk by Fernando Velho.
On April 6, 2023 at 8 am, there's the Springs of Panjim walk by Tallulah D’Silva.
On April 7, 2023, there are two walks. At 8 am, there is the Panjim Sketch Walk by Darpana Athale; and at 4 pm there will be a Miramar Heritage Walk by Prajal Sakhardande.
Explore the heritage of Old Goa with Make It Happen on April 8, at 8.30 am; and Bondvoll Lake Walk by Tallulah D’Silva at 4 pm.
April 9 will see two walks – the first will be at 8 am in Margao with Lynn Baretto Miranda; and at 4 pm, there's the Assagao Garden Walk by Daniel D'Souza.
PHASE 2 - HERITAGE WALK FESTIVAL
Phase 2 of the festival will be held from April 10, 2023 to April 16, 2023.
This phase will include the Miramar Bird Walk by GBCN; Low Tide Shore Walk (Siridao) by Vishal Rawlley; Secret Food and Tavern Trail in Fontainhas by Soul Travelling from April 10 to April 11.
On April 12, at 4 pm, one can check out the Campal Heritage Walk by Make It Happen. That will be followed by Plant Immersive Experience at Altinho with Dr Maryanne Lobo.
Vishal Rawlley will conduct Panjim City Signage – Reading the City on April 14 at 8 am; and Pritha Sardessai will conduct Panjim by Night.
On April 15, at 8.30 am, there's Retracing Monte Santa by Arch. Noah Fernandes. At 4 pm, catch the Loutolim Heritage Walk by Lynn Barreto Miranda.
On April 16, at 8 am, check out the Cotigao Sanctuary Walk with Charan GP. At 4 pm on the same day, there's Life and Legend in the village of Colva with Clive Figueiredo.
