Living life by example is the best thing to do. After all, actions have always proven to speak louder than words.
When it comes to expressing themselves, except for a few Ranveer Singhs out there, men are generally been known to be the less expressive gender. But then again, have you ever seen men in love?
Not too long ago, men would go to war as their lovers held on to the heart shaped lockets with pictures of them, carefully resting inside the restless metal heart. Letters would often arrive too late, but the handwriting was always laced with an echo of what their voice would’ve sounded like whilst reading the contents of the letter out loud.
Love is often mistaken to be only romantic in nature, but the truth is that love has so many tributaries to fill and so many directions to flow into. And the best kind of love, is unconditional.
REALITY CHECK
Cut to the 21st century. Some days, the bar is set higher than the kite, and on others, asking for the bare minimum is like asking for a drop of water in the desert.
Although things may certainly be different, and the question of whether chivalry really is dead, or not, comes up time and again, carefully hidden behind the playful misogynistic jokes, are the lovely men of the 21st century. Except, they do things a little differently.
Today, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, let’s dig into the lighthearted banter and define the term ‘different’.
While some men shout it from the mountain tops, others help with household chores. But regardless, we women open our own doors and buy ourselves flowers just like Miley Cyrus has instructed us to do!
PERFECT GENTLEMEN
While Lindolf Colaco, from Santa Cruz, flashed his big mischievous smile and answered, that he celebrates the women in his life by “washing my own plates and clothes,” Doystan Azavedo, from Merces, said that he celebrates the ladies, “simply by listening.”
And, somewhere up there in Heaven, Doystan’s mum is smiling down at the real gentleman her son has turned out to be.
As for Lindolf, it goes without saying that the only woman that will truly appreciate his thoughtful gesture is his beautiful mum as she returns home to the refreshing sight of an empty kitchen sink!
“I don’t do anything fancy for my mother, but I do give her a hug every morning,” said another man on condition of anonymity.
Diamonds may claim to be a girl’s best friend, but the rose that fell asleep between the pages of a book will beg to differ - it's always the little things.
ALWAYS ON MY MIND
"I always get my wife something to eat whenever I find myself eating something tasty without her!” explains Mervin Dias, who can’t do with, and can’t do without his bubbly wife, Kimberly.
“I also call her roughly ten to twenty times to find out where she is when she’s out working late. I take care of the kids, and sometimes, I do the dishes, as well. Come to think of it, she’s useless!” he grins as he falls more in love with his wife.

When it comes to the people of this day and age, one skill that all of us have been forced to pick up is reading between the lines, and listening to all the things that people don’t say, because sometimes, “I love and appreciate you” sounds an awful lot like your husband servicing your car without you asking, and I think that’s beautiful!
Hidden behind sarcastic comments and the cutest cackles after making the most sexist remarks, are men who in reality, worship the ground that women walk on.
This International Women’s Day, while we appreciate all the beautiful women out there, let us take a moment to appreciate all the men in our lives who make it possible for us to do it all because, truth be told, we all need a little help, sometimes.
