The heat has given a little respite from the continuous rain in the last few days, but it is still unbearable. Despite the discomfort, a group of young fitness enthusiasts decided to do a cool thing by hosting a Polar Plunge Party at Serai Villas in Vagator, over the weekend.

As others lounged in the shallow comforts of traditional monsoon fun and revelries, these fitness enthusiasts took the concept of a pool party to a daring new level — or rather, icy, adventurous and chilled depths.

A polar plunge party is a fun and challenging event where participants dive into icy cold water, pushing their limits and embracing the chill. The group of five went all out, bringing in 3,000 kg of ice in two trucks to cool down the pool before taking the icy plunge.

Ice baths are popular among fitness enthusiasts as they help reduce muscle soreness, speed up recovery, and improve circulation. This one-of-a-kind polar plunge event brought together several fitness influencers and coaches who were excited to test their endurance. The chilly waters did shock the system, but that was the whole point – pushing through discomfort to build mental and physical resilience.

The idea was conceptualised by Aakash Moitra, the founder of Serai Villas.

Actor Megha Gupta who was a part of the event said, "This was a great event and I had a lot of fun. I'm someone, who wants to party and socialise, but at the same time not party late night at clubs. This is the new kind of partying where you meet up for health. It is a great way to meet people, yet keep a track of your wellbeing."

While the initial goal was to plan an ice bath event, the group went a step ahead and decided to host a full-fledged polar plunge party. Several lifestyle influencers and fitness coaches were a part of this event, including Aviral aka Nuclear Gurung, Dilip Salunke, Sanjeev Kumar, Flexcia D’Souza, Hannah Kathrein and a few other known faces.

“As a calisthenics athlete with an intense training regimen, I rely on ice baths for recovery during weekends. Recently, my friend Akash suggested we do an ice bath at his property. We decided to make it a fun gathering and invite some friends," informs Aviral Gurung, a calisthenics athlete and coach.

We embraced this challenge with full dedication, meticulously calculating the amount of ice required and settling on an impressive 3,000 kg. That's how we ended up hosting what was Goa's first large-scale ice plunge event, inviting more people for a unique experience centred around recovery and camaraderie.

However, he proposed to take the party a notch higher by transforming the entire pool into an ice bath. "We embraced this challenge with full dedication, meticulously calculating the amount of ice required and settling on an impressive 3000 kg. That's how we ended up hosting what was Goa's first large-scale ice plunge event, inviting more people for a unique experience centred around recovery and camaraderie,” Gurung narrates.

Fitness enthusiasts are always looking for new ways to challenge themselves, and this polar plunge party was just the right mix of fun and fitness. With the sun shining and ice floating in the pool, polar plunge is one of the most amazing experiences that Goa offers.
