Have you watched Sooryavanshi or MOM, or the popular series, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter? The most prominent actor, playing the role of antagonist in all these is Abhimanyu Singh.

Giving fine performances in films like Gulaal and Rakta Charitra, he has carved a niche for himself in the film industry, and is now looking to buy a house in North Goa, and hopes to soon zero in on one.

'MY WIFE HAS GIVEN AN ULTIMATUM'

Though his heart is all out to buy his wife, Sargam, a place in Goa, to call home – he is still on the look out.

“My wife’s wish is my command,” he says and laughs. “She has given me an ultimatum.”

“I want to buy a house, here in Goa, and we are looking for some property. There are a few places which Sargam has seen, we have to re-think them. Hopefully, we will soon have our place here,” says the actor who loves to visit Arambol, Anjuna and Vagator.

THE BIG ULTIMATUM: Abhimanyu's wife, Sargam, wants a place in Goa and has given him an ultimatum.

LOVING GOA’S WEATHER

His love for Goa is such that he visits the State regularly to rejuvenate. “Imagine living in a place where the weather is so great. Ever since we've been staying here, it has rained and Goa, during the monsoons, which is beautiful,” says Abhimanyu, the OTT series, Bhaukaal, actor.

"I love everything in Goa – from the space, to the vibe, to the food, locals, everything makes it very special for me. So, you’ll see me coming to Goa almost every two to three months,” he adds.

EXTENDED VACATION

When on vacation, Abhimanyu truly enjoys his time. “My wife plans most of my itinerary. From the restaurants to the beaches to visit – everything is looked after by my wife. I just follow,” laughs the always serious villain on screen.

He was in Goa for a shoot for his upcoming film, Devara, which will feature NT Rama Rama Jr, Janhvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Shine Tom Chacko.

Post the shoot, he and his family decided to extend their stay, turning work into a mini vacation

PLANS DON’T WORK

Talking of his films and the process, he believes in not planning. “I don’t plan anymore. When I get a role, I choose the best from it and take it up. Recently, my comedy film, Selfie, got a lot of praise and I’m doing some protagonist roles, which is important for me, too,” says the Gulaal actor.

Just as planned movies and roles didn’t work for Abhimanyu, so too a planned career didn’t.

His love for Goa is such that he visits the State regularly to rejuvenate.

“My father wanted me to be an IAS officer, but my destiny was somewhere else. I took up films, and I know that my father was very proud of my decision. He would keep my newspaper article cuttings with him,” he says.

"After he passed away, I found them in his room. My father was not much into films – I think, in his entire life, he must have watched not more than four movies,” says Abhimanyu, turning a little emotional.

FUTURE PLANS: Abhimanyu Singh plans to buy a house for his wife here in Goa.

EXCITED ABOUT HIS NEW FILM

His new film, Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol, will be released in January 2025.

The film features Abhimanyu playing the role of an antagonist. He says he got to learn a lot from Sunny paaji.

“It is very fortunate to be working with a director like Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir Khan. We finished the shoot in three months, and it’s in the final production stage. These stalwarts are truly amazing to work with,” concludes Abhimanyu, as he sips a cup of coffee at the JW Marriott Goa in Vagator.
