1. Beach hopping
Goa is a state stretched along the coastline of the Arabian Sea and although a small state, it offers abundant beautiful beaches. If you are looking for a happening night on the beach, then North Goa is where you should be.
Candolim, Calangute, Vagator , Anjuna ,Mandrem and Arambol in North Goa are best known for parties, street shopping and fun activities. However, if you are in search for some peace and quiet, then South Goa is where you should be heading to.
Beaches that you should head to in South are Agonda, Benaulim, Majorda, Fatrade, Velsao , Canacona and Galgibag. Here are some of the things that you can do while at the beach: beach shopping, adventure sports, get your hair braided or simply take a stroll on the beach with your loved one.
2. Scenic drive through location
Apart from beaches and night life, Goa has much more to offer like lush green sceneries to backwaters and stunning hills. Here are a few scenic locations that you can have a ride through:
In North Goa, you can ride along Betim, Salvador Do Mundo all the way to Aldona. The entire route is scenic. When it comes to South Goa one of the scenic routes we suggest is via the coastal belt through Chinchinim, Assolna, Velim and Betul.
3. Local bars
If you are coming to Goa, ditch the expensive bars and head to some of the local bars around town. These local bars have a vibe of their own. In North Goa you have to visit Joseph bar at Fontainhas, Bar 51 in Panjim and Cajy bar at Arpora. When in South Goa make it a point to visit Feli tavern at Benaulim and Sochi at Benaulim.
4. Goan street food
Since Goa has been under the Portuguese reign for a prolonged period of time, its impact can still be seen on our food. There are a number of Goan dishes that are now converted into local street food. Digging into the street food menu you will find cutlet bread, chilly-fry, and roasted beef, chourise (Goan sausage) and more.
Here are a few places you can head to, to taste some mouthwatering local dishes: Dsilva’s in Miramar, Susegad Food Truck, Anjuna, near Goa Velha petrol pump,Fr. Agnel fast food truck, Majorda, Eats near Margao circle on the way to Colva and along Colva road, adjoining the parking near the beach.
5. Watching a local football/ cricket match
Something that you have to do when you are in Goa, that is going to be exciting and thrilling is watching a local football or cricket match that is organized in every village by the locals. Are you wondering what’s special about these matches?
First let us give you a heads up with all the excitement in watching their matches you get to hear some local cuss words, but believe me it’s all in game spirits and no hard feelings. Other than that, you can get to see how locals get involved in these matches and enjoy it as a community.
