Food with a view at Rio De Goa

This resto-bar has it all for you die-hard foodies

Roxanne D'silva

Rio De Goa is a multicuisine resto-bar, situated overlooking the famous Mandovi River. The resto-bar not only has a fabulous view of the Mandovi River. It is surrounded by coconut trees, and a part of the Mandovi runs on the other side of the restaurant as well.

The restaurant has an air-conditioned section with beautiful interior wall painting and lighting, giving it a nice dine-in feel. They also have a non-air- conditioned section, which overlooks the river. It is surrounded by lovely coconut trees, giving it a nice relaxed vibe.

Not only does Rio De Goa have a wonderful ambience, they also have ample parking inside for your four-wheelers as well as two-wheelers. So you are well taken care of right from parking to satisfying your hunger needs.

On speaking with the owner of Rio De Goa we got to know that he doesn’t have any prior connection to the restaurant fraternity, but he has always been very passionate about cooking.

Rayan Soares, the owner of Rio De Goa, is a Goan from Fontainhas, Panjim. He formerly worked at a telecom firm in Mumbai when the company shut down.

Rayan’s passion for cooking got him to start a takeaway kitchen called De Goa back in 2018. When he came back to Goa for good, he decided to start Rio De Goa, a multicuisine restaurant which also serves authentic Goan cuisine. You will find sorpotel, roast tongue, pork vindaloo and many more delicious Goan dishes.

Along with a well-knit kitchen chef staff, Rayan Soares personally prepares certain masalas for the Goan dishes. At Rio De Goa, they promote their Goan thali which is a sumptuous spread and is only available during lunchtime.

During the evenings, they have tandoor and other Indian cuisines and Goan cuisine.

Apart from the bangda thali or chonak thali, you can try out Goan chicken cafreal with rice, Goan vindaloo with rice or Goan shark xacuti with rice. The dishes are all reasonably priced. It is a good view and good food at good prices.

“There is an outdoor pizza oven which will be operational soon. We are planning on adding a live counter for pizzas, so all pizza lovers, you know where to head now." said Rayan.

They have karaoke nights every Friday and Saturday. If you enjoy some singing, do drop by and have a fun evening with a delicious dinner.
